How many are legitimate sincere people looking for an answer, as opposed to oafs masking political statements in the form of a question like:
“Why are liberals lazy?” “Do Republicans know how evil they are?” “Why is Obama ashamed of being a ****** Muslim?” or “Who’s a better liar; Bill or Hillary?”
I do it all the time and it’s fun, but just wondering what the percentage of questions on YA Politics and Goverment that abide by community guidelines would be.
I’ll say 5%.

My community is being overrun with crime. What can I do to improve it without encountering politics?

Anonimity asked:

This is a weird question. My community has, in the past few years, been facing a massive increase in crime. I would love to make a difference and help curb it but I don’t know what to do. I am young and not very sure what I want to do for a living. I have lightly considered becoming a police officer but I have read endless stories and articles about how the politicians of the community are hindering the police department’s ability to fight the crime. Due to politics, the police force of the area is taking a big hit at a time when the community needs police protection to be at the forefront of the politicians’ minds. The police officers are great in the area and I hold the utmost admiration for all of them (my family has several ties to the department). It just seems that the people in charge are tying too many hands.

Are there any ways short of dressing up in a costume and becoming a vigilante (not literally, of course) to really help my community?

What is the biggest challenge at work: the people (office politics), or the actual work?

Jane W asked:

Someone once told me that the hardest thing about work is not the actual assignments you are given or learning and performing the actual duties themselves but the people interaction required. He told me that the office politics and the interpersonal conflict is far more difficult.

Do you agree or do you think the actual duties you are assigned is more challenging.??
I am not talking so much about socializing in the office but getting people to work effectively together because most of us can not work in isolation.

Amira C asked:

I would like to know…
Are you a young person that is interested in politics and current affairs?
If so what issues are you most concerned about or interested in?
What viewpoints do you have? Would you classify yourself as a Conservative, a Liberal or somewhere in between?

If you are a young person that is not interested why not?

And for older people…
How important do you think it is for young people to be involved?

What is the average age of people answering questions about politics?

trueblue88 asked:

The answers for politics usually lack content on this website, with one really good answer for each question. I was just wondering, are my political questions, or the answers I have read to others, being answered by the preteens? I just read answers to “What is the average age on this website?” and many contended that they thought it was 12. I am 17, but I plan to be a public policy major so when I am curious about something politically I like people with slightly more education than a 9th grader to answer my questions. Maybe just tell me how old you are, or tell me what you think the average age is for the people that answer questions in Politics & Government.

Gone Fishing asked:

Everyday there are hundreds of new questions/opinions that seem to be designed only to insult and infuriate supporters of the opposite party. Is there another section of Yahoo Answers that is more hateful than the politics section?
